Well met Mario yesterday and he’s planning to do more gigs in the Sugar Club and he wants Rose to MC - So keep an eye out for that. I think it will be a lot of fun if people get very artistic and creative about dressing up. I also like the way he calls it a ‘Ball’ - there is a sense of it being more than just a show.
I have a great accompaniest, Julie Cruickshank. We’re going to be doing an hour for the opening of the new Joy Gallery. That will be on the 12th August from 10pm to 11pm. It is opposite the Gate theatre. I love playing for galleries - Cafes and galleries and street entertaining seem to touch something in my Cabaret soul. So check us out there if you want to catch a very earthy gig.
I also went into the New Shebeen on Georges street. It’s a really great new restaurant. Everything in it has been recylced. The owner, who I spoke to, Steve, calls the decor a little bit bonkers. It is a bit - but it’s also classy bonkers. The menu looks wonderful. He’s the same guy who managed Bobo’s on Wexford St. Anyway, looks like I may be singing downstairs. There will be a trial day - probably Wednesday, 20 th August. Late night possibly… I have to go in to confirm… Anyway, as I said to him, I’ll just do what I do and if he likes what I do - great.
Very much still hunting for work. Paid inspiring classy… work. THATS ALL.
I am also going to apply for Dun Laoghaire World Festival Busking - I love street entertaining - and that’s what my novel and film are all about. Will write a big page on those projects in the future!
